The fashion world celebrates the 65th anniversary of the appearance of an unusually reveiling for those times combination.
It was named in honor of the atoll where the U.S. military made a series of nuclear tests. The first atomic explosion at Bikini Atoll was on July 1, 1946, and the Frenchman Louis Rear immediately decided to call invented swimsuit in its honor.
The first model of bikini advertised it under the slogan: “Bikini - split Atom!”
